LMW Update

LMW Group, Inc., a not-for-profit organization, announces the start of its third year, for the

South End Global Youth Manufacturing Initiative Program, beginning June 20, 2023, in

cooperation with the Thornton Fractional High School District 215 as the target location, and

other organizations (libraries, corporations, and community colleges) to cultivate essential

employability skills.

South End Global Youth Manufacturing Initiative (SEGYMI) is funded by the State of Illinois

Department of Human Services Youth Investment program (IYIP) for participants ages 16 – 24

years old. The results of LMW Group’s efforts are in part due to the work of representatives of

the Illinois Manufacturing Association foundation, Opportunity Advancement Innovation (OAI)

Inc., South Suburban College, and Industry Consortium for Advancement Technical Training

(ICATT).

LMW Group, is dedicated to developing human capital of African American youth and

community, has joined with local manufactures, schools and school districts, villages (Burnham,

Calumet City, Lansing, and Lynwood), and community agencies. LMW Group commitment is the

increasing of our students’ achievements, social interactions, and academic successfulness. The

South End Global Manufacturing Technology Initiative (SEGMTI) address the employability of

individuals, marginalized, and underrepresented groups, and provides in-service training

opportunities of key personnel in given industrial fields regarding how SEGMTI can help them.
